Aero glass

Hi.
I installed Vista Beta this morning, but the glass look (transparent edges
etc. as seen in all beta 1 screentshots) aren't there.

My graphics card is an nVidia 6800, and I have a 3ghz processor with 1 gig
ram, so that shouldn't be the problem.

Any ideas?

I have selected the Aero style-theme.
Should there be another theme or setting?

It looks like this for me:

Same for me, i got a Intel 82852/82855 GM/GMS, which supposedly supports
DirectX9 and has enough RAM (and drivers did come with Beta 1, it was
recognized out of the box (not the case for XP)). But i suppose the included
drive ris an old-style WinXP driver, and we'll need to wait until Longhorn
Display Driver Model-based drivers are out for our card.

Last night I read that the Aero Glass-effect requires a DX9 compatible
graphics card. I know I have since all nVida 6-series cards are DX9
compatible.
But when I open the Nvidia 6800 properties tab it says it's only DX8.1 (when
i run Vista Beta).
When i run WinXP it says DX9.0. So it could be a driver-problem. I'm gonna
compare the drivers and see if I could get it to work.

You who have the same problem, check this out on your computers and see if
you have the save DX-problem, and post them here.

And if you found another solution, please post them.

/Robin

No, there are no other options under effects then the usual from XP.
When or if I get this to work, the glass-options will be here?

You need the correct drivers they are in alpha build at the nvidia website.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_75.03.html
Try at your own risk.
You could also try www.tweakvista.com as this will force it however it didnt
work for me

I am also having that same problem. I spent my entire day researching and
could
not find anything. I have just e-mailed Paul thourtt (he seems to have ever
longhorn build understood) about enabling the Aero Glass in vista.

I hope some can help us.

Hi, I installed Windows Vista Ultimate this morning by reformatting the old
one. When installation completed, I tried to change the theme to "Aero
theme", but it isn't in the list. What is the problem for this? I used to
have this theme when I used this Windows before? Does anybody can help me
please.

My computer named Compaq Notebook Presario C700, Ram 1GHz and the other
information about this computer is that I don't know to call.

Even though that card would be able to handle it, I think a card from the
GeForce FX (my FX5200 is working fine) series is your best bet for beta 1
eye candy.
I'm sure driver support will be further along for other cards by beta 2,
when it will need it according to MS.

I think there are some people over at the Neowin.net forums having problems
with 6XXX series cards. You might go there and see if they've found any
solutions.

Personally, I'd like to turn off the translucent titlebars while keeping the
other LDDM stuff enabled. They're rather hard to read when you get a bunch
of windows overlapping or over dark areas of the screen.

The LDDM drivers aren't there. Post this in the BETA program newsgroups
(unless, of course, its not legit, in which case get stuffed)
